Tower Bridge Offers Family Fun & Discounted Tickets

Celebrate a landmark anniversary at Tower Bridge with FREE activities and discounted admission as part of the Government's Great British Summer Savings scheme.
Families can enjoy a summer of hands-on science fun at Tower Bridge as the iconic London landmark celebrates 50 years since switching from steam power to electricity with free activities included in admission and reduced ticket prices throughout the school holidays.
Celebrating 50 Years of Electric Power
In 1976, Tower Bridge’s original Victorian steam-powered machinery was replaced with an electro-hydraulic system to modernise its operation while preserving the engineering marvel that continues to captivate visitors today.
To mark the anniversary, families can enjoy a programme of activities inspired by electricity, engineering and the inner workings of the famous Bridge. Designed for children aged six to 10, activities take place in the Learning Space from 10am–4pm, with no pre-booking required.
Summer Family Activities Programme
Gone fishing!: Saturday 8 August - Discover static electricity and try catching fish with a charged fishing rod.
Tower Bridge traffic lights: Tuesday 11 August and Tuesday 18 August - Learn how London traffic is stopped before a Bridge Lift and build a working traffic light.
Homopolar motors: Tuesday 25 August - Make a simple electric motor and use it to spin a crafted cog or flywheel.
Meet The Experts
Curious visitors and budding engineers can meet the people behind the Bridge during special Ask an Expert sessions. Hosted by Tower Bridge’s Technical Team, these informal drop-in sessions give visitors of all ages the chance to discover how the landmark operates today and compare modern technology with the Victorian steam engines on display in the Engine Rooms.
When? Every Thursday to 27 August (1:15pm–2:00pm)
Reduced Summer Ticket Prices
Adding to the excitement, ticket prices have been reduced for the summer as part of the Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative, helping families enjoy more affordable days out during the holidays.
To 1 September, tickets cost:
£15.80 per adult (usually £18)
£7.90 per child (usually £9)
Family tickets from £28.40
Your ticket includes access to the iconic High-Level Walkways with Glass Floors, the North and South Towers, and the atmospheric Victorian Engine Rooms.

Only For The Brave
Alongside the summer activities, families who explore inside Tower Bridge can ascend to the High-level Walkways for panoramic views across London. The bravest can venture onto the Glass Floors, suspended 42 metres above the River Thames, for a bird’s-eye view of the city below. When timed right, visitors can also watch a famous Bridge Lift from this unique viewing point.
