Can you tell us about the career path which led to where you are today?

I was working as a Luggage Porter to support myself while in university, and always had a keen interest in the Concierge and the way they made 'magic' happen. I was lucky enough to be brought in as a Junior Concierge after three months, and every day after work I would spend two hours covering an area on the map that my Head Concierge at the time would send me to, introducing myself to all restaurant managers and business owners. Subsequently, I joined the InterContinental Park Lane as a Concierge Coordinator and climbed my way through the ranks to become Head Concierge in 2021. I left the InterContinental at the end of 2025 after 11 years to take on a new challenge as Head Concierge of the icon that is The Dorchester.

Are there any specific mentors you’ve looked to for guidance, and how have they helped you on your journey?

Many people have helped me on my journey and shaping me to be the Concierge I am now, but maybe I can highlight the support I received from my good friend Michal Beneda ( now a member of the UAE section), as well as Toru Machida, Binoy Nair, Paul Whittle and many others!

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Being awarded the Service through Friendship Award by my peers during 2025's Les Clefs d'Or Concierge Awards ceremony will always hold a special place in my heart.

Dealing with guests cannot always be easy; what’s your approach to winning over ‘difficult’ guests?

The guests are mostly looking for someone that will listen to them, show empathy and offer a resolution. Even the most challenging situations can be turned around if you have composure and remain focused.

What personal sacrifices have you had to make to become successful in this field?

It has taken a lot of late evenings attending social events, spending days off improving my knowledge and always being available for guests and colleagues alike. I would like to thank my beautiful wife Ivanina for her patience with my social calendar.

What attributes does one need to be a good Head Concierge?

You have to know your team inside out; their strengths and weaknesses, and nurture them during their respective careers. If the employees are happy, content and feel they have a good work-life balance, that instantly resonates in the interactions they have with guests and creates a sense of camaraderie. Some difficult decisions are sometimes made as a Head Concierge, but the team understands them as long as you are transparent and set a clear direction.

If you could give advice to a Concierge new to this profession, what would it be?

Remain curious!

What is the most rewarding thing about being a Concierge?

It is most definitely the human touch and the connections you create with guests and colleagues.

Les Clefs d’Or’s motto is ‘service through friendship’; how important is collaboration with colleagues across the industry to you?

It has always been a vital part of the way I operate, and I always try to be available for help or guidance when needed.

Do you have any hidden talents you can share with us?

I am a very good cook. 🙂
