Concierges Step Into Kapoor

Members of the Concierge community and guests enjoyed a private tour of the new Anish Kapoor exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre.

One of the world's most celebrated contemporary artists, Anish Kapoor has returned to the Hayward Gallery almost 30 years after his landmark UK survey transformed the space.

Occupying the entire gallery, the exhibition immerses visitors in a series of monumental installations that stretch across floors, press against walls and hang dramatically from the ceiling, creating a powerful sense of scale and discovery.

A select group of Concierges and their guests visited the exhibition, enjoying drinks on arrival, the opportunity to meet the Southbank Centre marketing team, and a private viewing of Kapoor's magnificent works.

Among the highlights are Kapoor's iconic mirrored sculptures, which distort reflections and challenge perception, alongside works created using Vantablack – the world's blackest material – whose extraordinary light-absorbing qualities leave forms seemingly suspended in space.

Elsewhere, cavernous voids appear to open beneath visitors' feet, while striking new paintings and sculptures explore themes of vulnerability and the human condition.

Several new large-scale commissions make their debut, including two monumental installations in Kapoor's signature crimson red, reinforcing the artist's reputation for creating works that are both visually spectacular and emotionally compelling

Curated by Ralph Rugoff as part of the Hayward Gallery's 75th anniversary celebrations, the exhibition also marks his final show as the gallery's Director after two decades.

Kapoor, whose celebrated public works include Sky Mirror and Chicago's Cloud Gate ('The Bean'), once again demonstrates why he remains one of the defining artists of his generation.

The party was also given the opportunity to view other works at the Hayward Gallery, including Klaus Weber's Thinking Fountains, an outdoor installation which features two water-spouting figures and a narrow waterfall.

Hayward Gallery is located within ten minutes’ walk from Waterloo, Waterloo East, Charing Cross and Embankment Stations.
