We’re proud to support Matteo Delrio as he takes on the London Marathon in April 2026 to raise vital funds for Hospitality Action.

Matteo's Fitness Journey

Matteo’s running journey began back in 2017, encouraged by friends in the industry who inspired him to 'swap pints for miles'. At the time, he weighed 115kg and could barely make it jogging around the block. Since then, he’s shed a third of that weight, found a passion for running and is now preparing to tackle 26.2 miles across the city he has proudly called home since 2013.

Matteo, Publicity Officer for The Society of the Golden Keys said: "After losing a third of my weight (mainly from my head 😆) I’m now gearing up for 26.2 miles across the city I’ve called home since 2013. I’ll be running the London Marathon to support Hospitality Action, helping those who dedicate their lives to serving others."

Tough Training

Training through winter is no easy feat, but Matteo won’t be doing it alone - his loyal four-legged companion, Toto, will be trotting alongside, keeping him company.

Matteo said: "Training through the cold, dark months won’t be easy, but my loyal friend Toto will be by my side, keeping my spirits high (and stealing the spotlight during the short recovery runs)."

A Fundraising Mission

Matteo is aiming to raise £2,500 for Hospitality Action, a charity that stands by everyone in the hospitality sector when life takes an unexpected turn.

Matteo said: "Every donation will bring me closer to my £2,500 target, and helps someone in hospitality get back on their feet. Let’s make every mile count!

He added: "Whatever you do in hospitality, Hospitality Action has your back if things ever go wrong"

Mark Lewis, Chief Executive, Hospitality Action says: “Running the London Marathon is no easy feat, it demands dedication, months of hard training through the coldest days, and an incredible amount of effort and energy. We are always in awe of those who take on such epic challenges in our honour, and we are especially inspired by Matteo!

He added: "We encourage everyone to support his fundraising, donate what they can, and cheer him on every step of the way.”
