Enjoy a fascinating journey through 200 years of London transport, design and culture at this iconic museum.

Situated in the heart of Covent Garden, London Transport Museum is the world’s leading museum of urban transport. Starting in the 19th century and travelling all the way to the present day (and beyond), interactive exhibitions and galleries look at the powerful role transport has played in the development of London.

Where The Journey Began
Visitors can start their journey more than 200 years ago in Victorian London, understanding how horse-drawn carriages and watermen on the Thames played a crucial role in moving people round the city. As technological innovation changed, the story continues to understand how London developed the world’s first underground railway, the iconic red Routemaster bus in the 1950s, all the way up to the present day with the launch of the Elizabeth line.
Explore Our Extraordinary Collection

As well as world-renowned vehicles on display, the award-winning London Transport Museum has a wonderful collection of poster artwork, proudly on display in the Global Poster Gallery on the first floor. Other iconic collection items include examples of the fonts, maps, and roundels, synonymous with the London Underground in the popular London by Design gallery.
Free Live Performances - New for 2025
New for 2025, visitors can enjoy live performances from some of London’s most talented young classical and jazz musicians. On selected Friday afternoons until late October 2025, everyone can experience these musical performances for free in the Museum galleries offering guests a unique musical experience as part of their visit.
